NEBOSH National General Certificate Part 2 - Controlling Workplace Hazards

The NEBOSH National General Certificate is perfect for Managers, Supervisors, Safety Officers or those interested in pursing a career in Health & Safety.

Accidents and illness can result in disability, death or incapacity for work. The supervisor is in an ideal position to influence, monitor and train employees. They can also ensure that managers are informed, persuaded, encouraged or pressured into providing for better health and safety standards.

The course is divided into 3 modules; Management of Health and Safety (NGC1); Controlling Workplace Hazards (GC2) and Health and Safety Practical Application (GC3)

Management of Health and Safety

2 – Health and safety management systems – Plan
3 – Health and safety management systems – Do
4 – Health and safety management systems – Check
5 – Health and safety management systems – Act

Controlling Workplace Hazards
1 – Workplace hazards and risk controls
2 – Transport hazards and risk controls
3 – Musculoskeletal hazards and risk control
4 – Work equipment hazards and risk control
5 – Electrical safety
6 – Fire safety
7 – Chemical and biological health hazards and risk controls
8 – Physical and psychological health hazards and risk controls

Health and Safety Practical Application

Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge of the unit NGC1 and GC2 syllabus, by successful completion of a health and safety inspection of a workplace. Complete a report to management regarding the inspection with recommendations.

1 day per week, for 11 weeks

2 X 2 hour written examinations, 1 practical exam

No – SQA Accredited

None. Although a basic knowledge of health and safety issues such as the Highfield Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace or IOSH Managing Safelyqualification may be of benifit.
