Asbestos Management
A new duty to manage asbestos has been added to the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations, which comes into force on the 21 May 2004. It will apply to you if you have maintenance and repair responsibilities for non-domestic premises either through a contract or tenancy agreement or because you own the premises.
Background
If you are a duty-holder you must:
- find out whether your building contains asbestos, and what condition it is in;
- assess the risk, e.g. if it is likely to release fibres;
- make a plan to manage that risk
Content
