After visiting a new customer this week and seeing their amazingly complex risk assessment process, obviously designed by some sort of Brain Surgeon or Rocket Scientist; honestly, I had to have a cup of tea, two custard creams and a little lie down. I thought you may find a little reminder useful.

Please, please, please don’t make Risk Assessment harder than it needs to be. It’s supposed to be a useful tool for you to define what significant risks your operatives are exposed to, after that all you need to do is say what you are going to do to control that risk.

Remember it’s about reasonably foreseeable significant risk, and you don’t need complex numerical risk values either.
