The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) and Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) were put in place to prevent accidents with lifting equipment from happening. No one should be allowed to operatethe machinery, no matter how basic the task is, until they have been trained to a competent level. You are legally obliged to make sure that everyone who is working with and supervising forklift trucks has been trained in the correct way. Failure to train your employees could turn out to be a costly mistake.
